OTAN — Organic Teas ("OTAN", "we", "us") is an Australian organic tea business. This policy covers personal information we collect through our website at otan.com.au and our dealings with you.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to serve you well. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- Contact and order details: your name, email address, phone number, shipping address and the details of your order.
- Newsletter information: the email address you give us when you subscribe.
- Enquiry details: anything you choose to tell us when you contact us.
- Browser and cart data: your shopping cart is stored locally in your own browser using localStorage — it stays on your device and isn't sent to a server until you submit an order or enquiry.

- Place or enquire about an order at checkout;
- Fill in our contact form;
- Subscribe to our newsletter.
How we use it

- Fulfil and arrange your orders, and keep you updated on them;

Third parties & processors
We use a small number of trusted services to operate, and we share only what's needed:
- FormSubmit — a third-party form-to-email service that delivers your contact, order and newsletter form submissions to our inbox.
- Australia Post — to deliver your order, we provide your name and shipping address.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it for unrelated marketing.
Cookies & local storage
Your shopping cart uses your browser's localStorage to remember what you've added — this lives on your device, not our servers. We keep tracking to a minimum and use little to no tracking cookies. You can clear localStorage and cookies at any time through your browser settings; clearing them will empty your saved cart.
Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example, records related to orders). When it's no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct anything that's inaccurate or out of date;
- Delete your information, where we're able to;
- Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time, via the link in any email or by emailing us.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Our site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Children
Our products and site are intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we'll remove it.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
